Iman Marshall, Cornerback, USC

6’2, 200Lbs, Junior, 4.52 Forty Yard

There were only three players ranked higher than Iman Marshall coming out of 2015, and he was also the top ranked player in the state of California. Marshall played receiver and defensive back in high school, managing 85 total tackles, 5 for a loss, and 16 pass deflections in 2015. During his high school career Marshall managed to catch the eyes of 32 D1 football teams, and took official visits to schools like Florida State and Michigan before committing to USC. As a freshman for the Trojans, Iman Marshall ball hawked his way into USA Today’s Freshman All-American honors. In his two seasons as a Trojan he has made 6 interceptions, 17 pass deflections, and totaled 119 tackles. Look for 2017 to be a big year for this Trojan, looking to take over for Adoree Jackson as the #1 cornerback on this stacked defense.

Marshall is the prototypical cornerback prospect in the NFL with his mixture of size and agility, he can cover all sorts of receivers on the field. While scouting the Freshman All-American corner, you see Iman make about every play you can make on the field. His experience playing receiver in high school really shows as Marshall tends to be able to read a play quickly and correctly adjust to the route. He has got interceptions while staying tight and pressing his receiver, and also by baiting quarterbacks into bad throws. The Pac-12 division has probably the most talented group of quarterbacks in the nation, and Marshall has been able to produce against them all. He has plenty of length at the corner position standing at 6’2, but can really struggle with getting off blocks. Iman didn’t struggle when it came to tackling, but could use improvement as talent keeps growing.

Possible Landing Spots: Late 1st Round Pick (22nd-29th)

Dallas Cowboys - This offseason destroyed the Cowboys already suspect secondary, which could be a blessing in disguise. Marshall could provide great size for receivers like Jeffrey and Marshall within their division, and pair next to Byron Jones for years to come.

Los Angeles Chargers - Los Angeles doesn’t have to look far for a Flowers replacement as the USC cornerback will most likely be there for the taking when it's time for the Chargers to draft. Give Joey Bosa just a little more time to get to the quarterback, and the Chargers defense could start being problematic.

Seattle Seahawks - Richard Sherman could see himself out of the Seahawks locker room, leaving a gargantuan hole for them. Marshall is the same lengthy cornerback that Sherman is, and could be someone Seattle looks to target.
