Derrius Guice, Running Back, LSU
5’11, 222 Lbs, Junior, 4.32 40 Yard

LSU just produced one of the greatest running back prospects in recent memory, and he might not have even been the best back in that backfield. Yes, Leonard Fournette is a freak of nature, but Derrius Guice started 6 games and produced nearly 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns. Guice was the number 2 player coming out of the 2015 Louisiana class, and the 5th best running back overall according to 247Sports.com. As a freshman Guice rushed for 436 yards and 3 touchdowns backing up Fournette. In 2016, Fournette battled injuries and missed a good chunk of the season, and Guice didn’t skip a beat. Over his sophomore season Guice rushed for 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns, but the most impressive stat is his 7.6 yards a rush! Guice has the ability to take every. Single. Run. to the house, as his longest rush last year was a whooping 96 yards. An anonymous AFC scout told Bleacher Report that he would guess more than half of the NFL teams would have Guice over Fournette at the moment of time.
I love his ability to carry a whole defense several yards before getting tackled. He can run over your linebacker, then break your safeties ankles on his way to the end zone. At 222 Lbs, the fact that he can run a high 4.3 is scary. Even Zeke couldn’t get into the 4.3 40 range. I have watched multiple games where Guice is running full speed, runs over his defender, and immediately gets back to full speed. Guice is shifty enough to stay on his feet, and seems like he never can be tackled by one person. His talent of finding the correct whole, and using his ball carrier vision is top 10 pick worthy in my mind. The only thing I would say Guice is below average at is his pass blocking. He does the bare minimum in his blocking attempts, and throws himself at awkward angles which would worry me as a coach.
Possible Landing Spots: Top 12
Cleveland Browns: After selecting their top quarterback prospect, Deshone Kizer, the next step offensively is upgrading Crowell. They spent a lot of money to form an above average offensive line and Crowell is in a contract year.
Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens haven't been the same since losing Ray Rice, and with a lack of offense, I project Baltimore with a top 10 pick next season.
Indianapolis Colts: Indianapolis can easily gain a top 10 pick if Luck isn’t 100% going into next season. Guice could provide the electric punch to finally give Luck breathing room.
